1929: Founded in 1929, Yazaki pioneers the wire harness concept.
1940: Yazaki incorporates.
1966: The American Yazaki Corporation is formed in Chicago, Illinois to better serve the North American automotive market.
1972: With headquarters in Chicago, what was later to become Yazaki North America begins production for a leading U.S. auto manufacturer.
1973: Yazaki opens a Detroit branch.
1976: The Chicago and Detroit offices are consolidated into a single facility in Livonia, Michigan.
1979: Yazaki helps pioneer the vehicle junction block.
1986: Yazaki relocates to Canton, Michigan to a site now known as the Canton Campus.
1989: Yazaki EDS Engineering established to further research and develop technology for power distribution in the increasingly complex vehicle electrical system.
1991: American Yazaki celebrates 25th Anniversary.
1997: American Yazaki reorganized into Yazaki North America; major business units established to focus on key domestic and transplant OEMs.
1999: Yazaki North America occupies its new 419,511 square-foot headquarters facility on the Canton, Michigan campus. With its dramatic suspended-ship library and unique free-standing glass exterior, the facility sets the tone for an important new chapter in Yazaki's growth.
Today: Yazaki is one of the world's largest privately owned auto suppliers, with over 120,000 associates, and facilities in more than 30 countries. We're a leader in vehicle power and data solutions, and a supplier to virtually every major auto manufacturer in the world, as well as to key tier suppliers.
