YAZAKI SHOWCASES INNOVATION AT SAE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SHOW
CANTON, Mich., October 30, 2007 - Yazaki North America, Inc. (Yazaki), a leading supplier of vehicle power and data solutions to the automotive industry, is displaying diverse commercial vehicle product applications at its booth at SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition 2007, taking place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Metro Chicago (Rosemont), Ill., Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2007.

High Voltage (HV) Display
Yazaki has been involved in hybrid and HV technology since its inception more than 11 years ago. Given the company's long history, Yazaki is able to bring many HV solutions to the table for commercial vehicle applications.

With large fleets requiring drastic increases in fuel economy (up to 30 percent), Yazaki's HV technology enables hybrid systems to meet these increased fuel efficiency standards by providing the connectivity to HV systems that increase fuel efficiency and by utilizing environmentally recyclable materials to reduce emissions.

Yazaki's HV technology display consists of under-floor, motor, and generator cables as well as service plugs and DC power connectors. These products feature integrated shielding from electromagnetic interference (EMI), durability in environments with high voltage and high currents, and automated cable termination and connector assembly methods that allow for optimized vehicle assembly.

The company has been awarded several commercial truck hybrid applications to be announced soon.

Digital Module Display
Commercial truck manufacturers offer hundreds of customization packages to consumers. Advanced collaboration with vehicle manufacturers allows Yazaki to provide integrated, system-level solutions for developing optimized vehicle architectures. Yazaki's Field Effect Transistor (FET) module is a resettable circuit breaker that is a smaller and lighter solution that also provides increased variability, making it more effective than a relay and fuse.

Other digital modules on display demonstrate the company's ability to optimize combinations of electronic body controls, power distribution, and gateways for either a centralized or fully distributed Digital Power Module. This technology combined with an optimized vehicle architecture improves the reliability and assembly of the vehicle's Power Data Network.
