Yazaki North America Demonstrates Flexibility and Innovation at Convergence 2006
showcasing a variety of innovative technology at its booth (#608) at Convergence 2006, taking place at the Cobo Conference and Exhibition Center in downtown Detroit, October 16-18, 2006

CANTON, Mich., October 16, 2006 – Yazaki North America, Inc. (YNA), a leading supplier of vehicle power and data solutions to the automotive industry, is showcasing a variety of innovative technology at its booth (#608) at Convergence 2006, taking place at the Cobo Conference and Exhibition Center in downtown Detroit, October 16-18, 2006. Particularly exciting is their Heads-Up Display (HUD) technology, which the company was recently sourced to produce for a future North American vehicle application.

HUD is designed to project driving-related data such as speed, navigation, and warnings in the form of images onto a vehicle's windshield. The images are projected within the driver's normal field of vision so it is no longer necessary for drivers to divert their eyes from the road to view critical information. Safety and convenience are the top driver  advantages of this technology. Common design challenges are ensuring proper fitting in the vehicle's Instrument Panel (IP) and reduction of distortions and disparities for the driver.

The HUD displayed at Yazaki's booth is enclosed inside a cut-out of an IP with a windshield attached to it.  HUD architecture is very flexible and can display whatever the customer requires including the output of a night vision sensor. The image displayed in the demo is a night vision image.

Other products and technology showcased in Yazaki's booth include MOST and USB connectors, Digital Power Modules in truck and small vehicle applications, instrumentation displays, and HEV cables.
